After review of several lighting options, Woody's Bar and Grill while in the middle of a full remodeling effort considers the Dupre Group's lighting design approach to ensure the maximum comfort and attraction of patrons.

Only the very latest, longest lasting, most power efficient, environment proven, and business effective available in the market (e.g. see LIGHTFAIR) are incorporated into our designs

The most appropriate mix of ARTFUL/DECORATIVE, ACCENT, TASK, and AMBIENT illumination is performed on each project

Recognized leaders in exterior lighting design and application throughout the country are always leveraged--wheel is never reinvented

Our projects conform to state and local codes as well as the International Dark Sky Association's guidelines

We subscribe to the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct guidelines

A Brief History

The Dupre Group was originally founded in 2002 and focused on real estate investing—specifically south Florida waterfront home rebuilds with wealth creation potential or true tropical vacation home rental capability.  In 2003, during achievement of these goals on multiple properties, our team quickly recognized the need for professional and creative exterior illumination.  Homes, landscapes, and pool areas without impressive illumination significantly degraded the lifestyle experience we were seeking for our investments.  We came to understand that achieving a Caribbean resort like feel with proper lighting was and essential ingredient to any south Florida home.  Thus began our quest and augmentation of core skills (general and electrical contracting, pool and landscape design)--with best in class architectural lighting capability for residential homes.

Nearly a year into our "enlightened" development and after a few missteps along the way by us and by the use of creatively challenged contractors and builders, we have realized that as a team our exterior lighting design capability has reached a coveted professional threshold.  As homeowners and real estate investors seeking state-of-the-art lighting implemented, we graduated from the school of hard knocks through impractical attempts to hire out for these services.  We learned the options for us in southwest Florida were and still are:

1. electrical contractors - are competent with line voltage electricity but had little to no interest in style or environmental factors we were seeking

2. landscape designers/dock builders - again are competent in their respective professions but resort caliber lighting was clearly not a focus nor a capability of theirs

3. commercial lighting design and engineering firms - professional, technical. and competent in lighting design and execution but individual homeowners were not generally their focus--at least in the scale and number of homes we had

4. DIY (do it yourself) -  without an initial and combined professional skill level in electricity, architectural design, landscape design, pool design, dock design, and most importantly residential lighting design, this option quickly becomes frustrating and costly or quality results won't be forthcoming.  As we have learned, this approach requires much patience, perseverance, study, training, and most importantly, the time to see projects through multiple iterations.

This journey, though challenging as its been, has resulted in a team that is both knowledgeable and capable in the art and application of light to exterior spaces--specifically south Florida spaces. 

After careful thought and consideration, as of late 2004 we as a company decided to formally add an additional business:

Exterior lighting design and contracting

to serve homeowners, developers, builders, business owners with similar needs located in subtropical / tropical locations.
